    Home screen how to

I've heard about an app for the home screen that is supposed to be a satellite view of your current location, wherever you happen to be. Does anyone know what app that is? It sounds interesting and I'd like to check it out but don't know what to look for. Thanks.

With this battery I wouldn't worry, I've accidently left the GPS on for hours without taking a hug hit

Absolutely correct. My years of android phone usage made me post that as a reflexive action!! In fact, I leave my GPS on all the time now too. But none of my apps use the GPS very often. That said, it just seems that this thing would be using the GPS every single time the phone moved?? Isn't that the way it would work? Wouldn't it be almost like running a navigation app all the time (well, minus the constant total screen redraws)?

ETA: I'm about to leave to go out to lunch. I'm going to install it and try it while I'm out. More later.

There used to be a live wallpaper called "Maps". I guess there were too many problems with battery drain, dat usage and accuracy so its likely been pulled. It came stock on my Motorolla Xoom but it was either deleted when I updated to jellybean or perhaps it was removed when I rooted it but its no longer there. I did find an alternative if you would still like one. I havent used it so I would not know how well it works if at all. It has a few mixed reviews.

    **EDIT***

Here is a short video of the OLD Maps Live Wallpaper.

    Re: Home screen how to

I installed and used the GPS Widge and it worked well. The widget has an on & off switch on it. So you can leave it off most of the time and just turn it on when you need to know your position. Pretty good app.
