How to put a file on your homescreen

Is it possible to put an excel file on one of my homescreens? I have figured out how to put the "files" folder on my homescreen but I want the actual file within the folder there. Is it possible?

When I hold any of my home screens down, I do not have an option to add shortcut. I can only select Wallpapers, or add folder or Apps and widgets. Any other suggestions?

Hey guys, this is easy to do with ES File Explorer.
I use ES File Explorer and long press on the desired file. Scroll down to "shortcut" and it automatically puts it on your home screen

    Hope this helps

Also easy with Root Explorer - just long press document and select create short cut. More then one way to skin this cat
