    It just belongs here.

I'm really curious to know if the KitKat update wipes data, this Test version does, but it really is not a big deal to the N9005 as they have an Unlocked Bootloader. Eventhough, this still is Test Firmware not Official I can imagine it is based on what the final release was somewhere in the testing phase. It's easier to restore Root with an Unlocked Bootloader, but difficult to restore Root with a Locked Bootloader, and likely Kingo is not gonna be up to speed with Samsung's first 2 devices to receive KitKat. Any thoughts?

Well hopefully come OTA it womt wipe data, thats going to bring lots and lots of complaints to them (especially if it wipes internal data and some people store their pictures there.. That's just going to cause nothing but anger.)

However, this is the reason I bought super SU pro.. It has OTA root survivor. It'll backup your root so after OTA you can just restore it and bam. Root.
I personally haven't tested however I believe CNB has and it worked for him. There is also VooDoo root keeper. I tried that one on the DX back in its hay day and it worked.

I don't really see much other option besides that though. Maybe Root Dela Vega will make a reappearance and provide root until a one click is available.

Ah! That was the other thing I missed! Look at the SE for Android Status in the screenshot below = it is "Enforcing". Currently on my SM-N900V ours is "Permissive" which grants us "Safestrap Recovery". This is just hypothetical but if KitKat installs on Verizon Note 3 devices and wipes the Internal Memory "/" (keep in mind OTA Root Survior is stored here) Root will be lost, also if SE changes to "Enforcing" instead of "Permissive" I think we would lose Safestrap as well (it's similar to the reason Safestrap does not work on AT&T due to the SE for Android Status.)

    Dun. Dun. Dunnnnnnn..

Yeah that's a killer. I didnt think about that.

Maybe root survivor can be transfered to the external and can be saved that way?

Im not really familiar with SE cause I've had nexus the past 2 years haha. So I guess its time I get to reading up on everything again.

    IMPORTANT

According to Security Enhancements--> SELinux (enforcing mode) on KitKat 4.4 changes from "Permissive" to "Enforcing" see Android Developers outline on KitKat 4.4.2.

And apparently it blocks rdlv root method (according to rdlv creator)

" @DesignGears: 4.4.2 for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 patches Root de la Vega exploit. Be careful upgrading."
